Andrew was conceived from a need for a contemporary, characterful line of taps that could embody lightness and purity. The existing options did not meet the designers' requirements, leading to a close collaboration with rvb®, a manufacturer known for its original, high-end taps. The outcome was a faucet design that perfectly integrated the handle into the tap's shape, contributing not only to its functionality but also to the purity of its form.
The design team, led by Christian Van Suetendael and Gert Van den Steen, worked tirelessly from the end of 2014 until April 2016 to bring Andrew to life. The faucet's design was a result of meticulous planning and execution, with every detail, from the handle's integration to the choice of materials, carefully considered. The final product was a faucet that was not only aesthetically pleasing but also instinctive and ergonomic in its operation.
Andrew's unique properties extend beyond its minimalist design. The faucet also stands out for its sustainable features. The design team's commitment to environmental responsibility is evident in their choice of materials and technology. The faucet is made from copper alloys, which can be indefinitely recycled, and uses flow reduction technology to conserve water and energy.
The faucet is available in various finishes, including chrome, matte black, matte nickel, and other colors on request, such as matte blue and bronze. The single lever washbasin mixer measures 250 mm in height, with a spout 180 mm long and 39 mm wide. The base measures 55 mm by 110 mm, making it a compact yet striking addition to any bathroom.
Andrew's innovative design and sustainable features have not gone unnoticed in the design world. In 2017, the faucet was awarded the Golden A' Bathroom Furniture and Sanitary Ware Design Award, a prestigious accolade granted to creations that reflect extraordinary excellence and significantly impact the world with their desirable characteristics.
In conclusion, Andrew is a shining example of how design can combine form and function, aesthetics and sustainability. It is a testament to the creativity and dedication of its design team, and a beacon for future designs in the realm of bathroom fixtures. The faucet's success story serves as an inspiration for designers and manufacturers alike, proving that with innovation and collaboration, it is possible to create products that are not only beautiful but also beneficial to the environment.
